Nothing says al fresco dining, long, lazy lunches and lots of poolside fun like a cool cocktail. For wine lovers the possibilities are endless when it comes to mixing this tipple and you can whip up amazing-looking and tasty creations with little hassle. So why not impress your guests with a yummy wine-based cocktail – here are some suggestions guaranteed to refresh and impress:

Strawberry Lemon Sauvie

The combination of lemon and strawberries makes for an invigorating combo.

Ingredients:

  • 2 lemons, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup sliced strawberries
  • 1 bottle the beachhouse Sauvignon Blanc
  • 1/2 cup light rum
  • 4 cups lemon-lime sparkling water

Method:

Mix fruit, wine and rum together in jug, cover and leave in fridge for a few hours. Top with sparkling water and serve.

Ginger blush

If you like your cocktails slightly sweeter, give this delicious number a go.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup peach schnapps
  • 1 bottle the beachhouse Rosé
  • ginger ale to taste
  • fresh berries for garnish

Method:

Mix peach schnapps, wine and ginger ale together and garnish with fresh berries of your choice.

Watermelon fizz

Simple to prepare, yet packs a flavour punch and looks super festive.

Ingredients:

·         5 cups watermelon, cut into small cubes

·         15 crushed mint leaves

·         ¼ cup sugar

·         1 bottle the beachhouse Sauvignon Blanc

·         sparkling wine or soda water for topping up

·         watermelon wedges for garnish

Method:

Mix sugar and wine, and add mint and watermelon cubes. Top up with sparkling wine or soda water and garnish glasses with watermelon wedges for an extra summery touch.

Ultimate wine slushy

Making your own sorbet is ridiculously easy, and paired with Rosé and a dash of sparkling wine it is sure to be a crowd pleaser.

Ingredients:

·         2/3 cup/160 ml water

·         2/3 cup/130 g sugar

·         250 g frozen mixed berries

·         1 tablespoon lemon juice

·         1 bottle the beachhouse Sauvignon Blanc

·         sparkling wine for topping up

·         dash of grenadine syrup

Method:

Mix water, sugar, frozen mixed berries and lemon juice in blender to desired texture. Place mixture in covered container in freezer until frozen. Fill glasses with 2/3 wine, add scoop of sorbet and dash of grenadine, and top up with sparkling wine.

Red rendezvous

Still a red wine devotee, you say? Don’t worry, red wine can work beautifully in a cocktail. And we’re not only talking Sangria! Whiskey and red wine might sound like an odd pairing, but be assured, this one rocks.

Ingredients:

·         30 ml whiskey

·         20 ml cherry liqueur

·         200 ml of your favourite red wine

·         few drops of bitters

Method:

Mix the spirits and wine and add a few drops of bitters and ice. Garnish with cocktail or fresh cherries.
